Toyota Celica

The Toyota Celica name been applied to a series of coupes made by the Japanese company Toyota. The name is ultimately derived from the Latin word coelica meaning "heavenly" or "celestial".

Throughout its life span the Celica has been powered by various four cylinder engines. The most significant change occurred in August 1985, when the car's drive layout was changed from rear wheel drive to front wheel drive. During the first three generations, American market Celicas were powered by various versions of Toyota's R series engines. The four-wheel drive turbocharged model (designated All-trac in the United States or GT-Four elsewhere) was produced from 1986 to 1999. Variable Valve Timing came in late 1997 Japanese models, and became standard in all models from 2000 on. Through seven generations, the model has gone through many revisions and design forks, including the Toyota Celica Supra (later known as the Toyota Supra). The Celica was available as notchback and liftback coupes, as well as a convertible.

Acura Integra

The original and first-generation Acura Integra debuted in 1986 and came as a two-door or four-door hatchback. Both styles were available in a base RS or more luxurious LS trim and were powered by a 113-hp 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. A five-speed manual transmission was standard, and a four-speed automatic was available as an option. In 1988, Acura increased engine output to 118 hp, but most of its power was still too high in the rev band to match the lower torque curves of its sports coupe competition.

In 1990, Acura remedied the problem when it released the second-generation Integra. Again offered in two body styles (this time with a four-door sedan), this Integra was more sophisticated and was powered by a new 1.8-liter four-cylinder that made 130 hp. In addition to the RS and LS trims, Acura added a GS trim. It was a "top of the line" trim with added standard equipment, such as antilock brakes and an upgraded interior. All models came standard with a five-speed manual, with a four-speed automatic being optional.

In 1992, Acura bumped power output up to 140 hp. That same year, Acura introduced the Integra GS-R, a performance-oriented trim that was powered by an all-new 1.7-liter four-cylinder engine making 160 hp. It also was the first time Acura applied its variable valve timing system (VTEC) in a car other than the NSX. The GS-R was designated a pure driver's car and came exclusively with a close ratio five-speed manual transmission. It was also equipped with a good deal of standard equipment, such as antilock brakes, a moonroof and power locks and windows.

2011 Honda CR-V

The 2011 Honda CR-V ranks 2 out of 23 Affordable Compact SUVs. This ranking is based on our analysis of 96 published reviews and test drives of the Honda CR-V, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.

The Honda CR-V is ranked at the top among small SUVs for a good reason: It’s one of the most practical family SUVs on the market. "It's fun, cute and practical, and it's a bargain,” says Cars.com. “What more can a mama ask for?"

The CR-V is a Renaissance man -- or woman -- of the automotive industry. It gets good gas mileage, has comfortable seating, plenty of interior cubbies and a roomy trunk. “As practical as a backpack, this benchmark crossover is an easy, stylish one-size-fits-most car choice," says Kelley Blue Book. The CR-V isn’t the fastest or most stylish small SUV, and its fuel economy ratings aren’t the highest in the class, but parents on the go will find it hard to turn down this practical vehicle because it does a little bit of everything.

The Honda CR-V can accomplish so much that it's won several awards. It is our Best Affordable Compact SUV for Families, and one of Kelley Blue Book's Best Resale Value winners. But despite its good reputation, the CR-V won’t satisfy all shoppers. It’s not super fast, doesn’t have a third row and gets a bit expensive once you add features like Bluetooth and USB integration. Plus, it definitely isn’t a luxury car. "The compact SUV field is crowded these days, with nearly every automaker offering something,” explains Cars.com. “If you only have eyes for the luxury makes, the CR-V isn't for you. Otherwise, it's something you should consider." Shoppers seeking a practical SUV that’s well equipped for daily life may not need to look any further.

2011 Artega GT

We know that the Artega GT is being sold on a limited basis so by sheer quantity alone, it won’t be able to compete with something like the Lotus Evora. But take that out of the equation and you have two cars that pretty much carry the same performance numbers.

The current-generation Evora is powered by a transversely-mounted, Toyota-sourced 2GR-FE VVT-I engine that sits behind the rear seats. The engine is capable of producing up to 276 horsepower and 258 lb/ft of torque with the Evora capable of accelerating from 0 to 60mph in 4.9 seconds.

At the end of the day, choosing one over the other will entirely depend on which car you’re more comfortable with. The Artega GT, despite it’s limited availability, looks, feels, and performs the part of a high-end sports car. On the other hand, the Evora may not match up to the Artega GT aesthetically - as far as we’re concerned - but the production numbers are almost certainly bigger than that of the Artega sports car so finding one shouldn’t be all that difficult.

In 2000 Roland Gumpert proposed a new generation sports car. One of the first concerns of this car was that it would be a street-legal car, ready for the race track. Gumpert returned to Germany at the end of 2001, after more than three years in China. There he was the head of sales and marketing, responsible for the development of the dealer network of the Audi-VW joint enterprise. Just after he returned to Germany, Roland Mayer asked him if he would assist him in building a prototype sports car. Audi approved Gumpert's involvement in this project, on the condition that, if they did eventually develop a new sports car, it would not be a prototype, but a series product.

The company, located in Altenburg, Germany, was founded in 2004 under the name GMG Sportwagenmanufaktur Altenburg GmbH. The technical guidelines were defined and the first designs of the car were drawn by Marco Vanetta. Upon Vanetta's completion of this process, the first 1:4 scale model of Gumpert's car was produced in 2001.

Gumpert continued with the development of the Apollo, along with the Technical University of Munich and the Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences. They have assisted with the constructional work, computer simulations, and wind tunnel tests. This research and development helped forming the blueprint for the first 1:1 scale model. Finally, two prototype Apollos were constructed. Production of the Apollo started in October 2005.

2011 G-Power BMW M3 GTS

G-Power is a tuning company specializing in producing parts, as well as upgrading BMWs. M-series cars are their specialty, and for this specific project, they got hold of the E92 M3 GTS, a race-inspired car that was limited to only 150 units worldwide, and created what they call the world’s most powerful M3.

The 2011 G-Power BMW M3 GTS starts its life as an “ordinary” BMW M3 GTS, a car designed to take on the Porsche 911 GT3 RS. By equipping this car with a supercharger, together with reinforced con rods, crankshaft, and engine block, the output of the M3’s V8 is increased dramatically: 635 horsepower to be exact. This represents a nearly 200 horsepower increase in power. This provides some serious performance numbers: zero to 100 kph comes in 4.2 seconds, and zero to 200 kph is clocked at 11.9 seconds. Top speed achieved by this car is around 200 miles per hour.

With these upgrades, the potential for the G-Power BMW M3 GTS is sky-high. It is capable of creating some seriously quick lap times. The upgrades, developed under the pressure of competing in events such as the Nurburgring 24 Hour race, just fit seamlessly, ensuring both smoothness and durability. The G-Power BMW M3 GTS, the world’s fastest M3, is ready to take on Porsches and the rest of the world.
