It was only a few short months ago that we caught wind of a new Audi getting prepared to take on models such as the Porsche Panamera Turbo. Coming in sometime around 2015, the Audi A9 will be a luxury sedan that will take futuristic design to an attainable level, but not before coupe and cabrio versions of the car show up to steal the spotlight.
The Audi A9 coupe will come with fully retractable side windows, while the cabrio gets a soft top. It is rumored to be offered with a 3.0 TFSI engine producing around 300 HP for the base version and a V8 with 500 HP for the top version. The stylish exterior, luxurious interior, and power options will make the A9 an excellent competitor for models such as the Mercedes CL- and SL-Class.
Pricing for the different versions of the Audi A9 will start at 80,000 euros, or about $110,000 at the current exchange rates, for the Coupe and Cabrio versions compared to the $140,000 price tag on the Sedan.
Of course, these are all just rumors as of right now. With all of the different changes going on in the auto industry, we wouldn’t be surprised if this vehicle underwent many other changes - can we say hybrid? - before Audi finally rolls it out sometime in the next few years.
